Birth and studies of Paloma Domingo
Paloma Domingo García was born in Madrid, on January 3, 1959.
She studied at the Complutense University of Madrid. She graduated in Physical Sciences, specializing in Astrophysics.
Later, she obtained a doctorate in Computer Science at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
Paloma Domingo’s working life
Paloma Domingo spent nearly eleven years in the private company. Her work was developed in Entel, a Telecommunications company, created in Chile, on August 31, 1964.
From 1984 to 1989, Paloma Domingo contributed her skills and knowledge in the development of special software for Entel.
Between 1989 and 1994 she was the Director of Knowledge Engineering at Entel.
After her experiences in this telecommunications company, Paloma Domingo dedicated herself to teaching at the Carlos III University of Madrid, where she taught computer science classes from 1994 to 2000.
With just over six years of experience as a teacher, Paloma Domingo was promoted to researcher at the Carlos III University in Madrid.
Paloma Domingo and the Carlos III Science Park
In 2000, Paloma Domingo was named “Head of Academic Practices in Business” in the “Scientific Park of the Carlos III University“.
She held this position until 2002, when she was promoted to Deputy Director of the “Carlos III University Science Park”. She left this position in 2012.
Paloma Domingo, with her intelligence, sympathy and management skills, has been the soul in the development of this Park since its inception.
The Carlos III University, in alliance with the Leganés City Council and the Community of Madrid, has formed what is known as the “Leganés Technological Business Association”.
The University’s Science Park promotes competitiveness and sustainability in the market for these technology-based companies.
Some 75 companies reside in the Park, of which a third are recently created.
From January 2013 to 2018, Paloma Domingo García was Director of the “Carlos III University Science Park”.
This park, with 280 hectares of land, is located just 6 km from the center of Madrid, surrounded by powerful communication routes that connect it directly with the Juan Carlos I Fair Park and the Airport.
The ample space of the Park incorporates leisure areas, commercial areas and services.
Since January 2020, the Spanish science and technology parks created a private blockchain network (protected and secure database) to facilitate the use of technology for their 8,000 companies.
Paloma Domingo Director of FECYT
In 2018, Paloma Domingo was appointed General Director of the “Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology”, FECYT.
The “Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology” (FECYT) is a public foundation created in 2001.
